Pagkalabas ng sine either parang gusto naming magfoodtrip or at least magkape, pampababa ng amats.

Yeyz, Itsdatkayndamoobimeyn! 420 meyn!

Kung tama ako at may grant na ibinibigay to produce #everyroomisaplanet for #C1Originals, may tamang-hinala na ako kung saan napunta ang kalahati ng grant nito. Charot.

“Every Room…” is a hard movie to get into. Not the fault of the stars though. Hungganda ng pohtang Valeen Montenegro. and better yet she doesn’t rest on pretty. she provides a good balance of strength and vulnerability without overplaying her role as a mentally unstable girl.

As in. At parang puno ang lunchbox. But i digress.

Hindi ko sure if Rap was conciously going for the shy tentativeness that Eddie Redmayne was reaching for sa “ Fantastic Beast…” but while ang resulta for Eddie was autistic realness, kay si Rap mukhang ano lang… sabog. Charot.

Hinted at naman na pothead ang character ni Rap dito, di ko lang sure kung nag-method acting siya kasabay niya ang writer, director at the crew, if you know what i mean. Yeah! May mga kuha siya na parang “Hey he can’t be faking this na huh”. Laptrip. Bwahaha,

But Rap can be charming, especially sa mga eksena where he equal parts unsure, blustering and yet cheeky. Yung mga eksenang parang hinayaan lang ng sila ni Valeen to play with their chemistry like the donut scene na parang naglalaro lang sila but the the tentative flirtation is there.

Francis Mata as the quirky father emerged and the only sane character in the movie. And Antonette Taus ibinabato to the last row ang acting which is good in a playe pero pelikula ito na laid back at mellow so chill neng. Hindi siya siguro pina-hit kaya intense.

There are other things. The scifi scoring allthroughout the movie was overbearing. Dubbing fails where Rap barely opens his lips pero anlalim ng boses na lumalabas. Conversely sa mga eksena with the parents, boses totoy si Rap. May unevenness sa continuity in scenes na dapat magkakadugtong pero si Rap ay sabog, then hindi, tapos sabog ulit.

But it’s the bigger picture that’s a problem for me. The filmaker just seems too precious about the movie’s conceit about binaries, scifi, and mental stability. Clever kayo ganun? Siya sige. Could be genius, but mostly selfish I feel, kinda excluding ganun.
