Ba’t ganun? Hindi ako emotionally prepared.

I’ll try not to spoil too much of  #rogueone in this review , pero just in case… SPOILER ALERT!

UPDATE: so hindi ako nakapigil, SPOILER ALERT na ngang talaga. Proceed at your own risk.

So heto na nga, G and I entered the theater ready to marvel at a spectacle. IMAX 3D wootwoot!

What i was not ready for were well-drawnout characters that I will care for by the end of the movie.

Sa chronology ng Star Wars, Rogue One’s storyline would be at episode 3.5, somewhere sa pagitan ng pagkamatay ni Padme at pagiging Darth Vader ni Anakin Skywalker hanggang sa pagtatago ni Princess Leia ng hologram message to Obi Wan Kenobi sa loob ni R2D2 habang dedma palang sa world si Luke Skywalker sa Tatooine.

I feel so geeky writing the preceding paragraph, promise.

What I like about Rogue One is that it told the story of other people and other planets in the Star Wars universe. Aminin na natin Star Wars Episodes 3-6, Episodes 1-3, at Episode 7 ay  isang mahabang soap opera ng pamilya Skywalker with outerspace barilan in place of umaatikabong sampalan at sumabog na planeta instead na kotse.

Even the set of characters are more diverse not just in terms of race but also characterizations. Both sides kill to further their own ends, very much like wars are fought today in the real world.

Bet ko yung atituderang imperial droid K2-SO.

Sabi ni Baze, “Good luck”. Sabi ni charot na Chirrut, ” I dont need luck… i have you.” De ba? Kileeeg!

Go lang raw with the flow. Chusero sila.

And all done without overt dialogue to that effect of course, dahil kailangan nilang magbenta ng action figures sa mga bagets.  Pero nandun yung heartbreak besh. Ramdam koh!

If fact wala nang hinto ang tears ko as isa-isang nashigok ang members ng Rogue One. For some reason the gunfighting and the deaths here felt more personal. Parang nasatabi mo lang yung natetegi at hindi some unknown pilot in a fighter jet.

And when Jyn and Cassian  succeeded achieving their goal and yet still faced their doom, hungbittersweet niya kasi hindi nila maeenjoy yung victory na pinaghirapan nila. Pero knowing that they did their part for the greater good ay enough na sa kanila.

Awww.
