As it turned out, instead of Saving Sally or Sunday Beauty Queen, it was #angbabaesaseptictank2 na nauna kong napanood from the 8 #mmff2016 entries. #sorrynotsorry #salamatsasponsor … Got introduced pa and majorly fanboy-ed over Antonette Jadaone. Hahahah #dyahi

To be honest, wary ako sa panonood ng “Ang Babae…2” dahil sobra akong nag-enjoy sa part 1 and i cannot help but enter the moviehouse with some expectations dahil sequel nga ito. Add to that yung fact that this is a comedy and comedy relies on the element of shock and surprise, na paano nila maachieve in a sequel na based sa trailer, used the original movie as its framework?

Super laftir naman ang sisteret ko sa tabi so i guess  I shouldn’t have worried.

Part 1 was reeeeeeeally funny but also totally subersive at at times vitriolic. Para siyang germicidal soap, hung-Harsh! Sobrang attention nito sa details na, in retrospect, para siyang ginawang calling card ng director to show na alam niya ang feel at texture ng iba’t-ibang genre ng moviemaking, and it was amazing. It was an insider poking fun, almost cruelly, at itself.

It was an indie comedy na isnabera ang humor. The funnies came one after another, wala silang paki kung na-gets mo. Kung nagets mo, bongga, kung wititit, tanga kah ok, tangah! And it felt like a buddy movie about the director Kean Cipriano and produ  JM de Guzman with the Eugene-as-Eugene section treated like extended punch line.

Part 2, meanwhile is the Eugene Domingo show through and through. The comedy is more mainstream, the humor less angry frat-boy.  It a way, like its protagonists, the franchise also grew up after facing real world challenges away from the idealistic art-for-art’s-sake filmmaking.

May climactic scene dito between Uge and Kean na whoa!!! Filmmaker hugot ha! And in fair, Kean emotionally held his own against Uge’s ice queen assault.

In multiple scenes! But best of all, parang nakitaan ko siya gn growth as an actor. Growth as an actor daw o! Yung above-mentioned kong confrontasi with Uge, bungga neng bungga.

Kayo talaga.

As i was saying, I loved the interaction nina JM at Kean sa una, si JM para siya yung asshole mong BFF na kayang tapusin ang mga sentences mo. Sorry but in comparison Cai Cortez was kinda bleh as the new produ. Wala silang connect ni Kean. Fab siya noon as the PA na wa spluk dahil fez niya pa lang andami nang sinasabi. Tama siguro yung kanta, words got in the way.

Pero bilang the new wordless PA, neng, lost.

As the fantasy co-star Jericho Rosales delivered charm in spades at ang commitment sa imaginary role huh. Yung eksena sa ulan sa bus station, sherep! Saka metaphorical pala na nasa bus station yung super emotional scene kasi nga de-vas-tation. Cheret. #kurneh #pilita

Si  Joel Torre rin pakak na nakakatawa with the added challenge of poking fun at his age and image. Akala ko mega-onders na si Joel to the  Eddie Garcia level pero wititit pa pala no? Bihira na kasing bigyan ng extreme close up si Joel na may pagmamahal, yung pang-leading man close up baga. As in! Rawr!

And of course there is Uge.  Uge is Uge. May mga eksena na nakita na natin so at the most mangingiti tayo pero because si Uge ito, yung ngiti magiging tawa. May eksenang sa words at sitner walang nakakatawa pero this is Uge and she  seems to be able to elicit laughter throught the sheer force of her will.

Of course nandun ang crown-pleasing na hugot-acting levels na tour de force niya just like last time, pero now more developed ang Uge as The Eugene Domingo niya. Feel-good na ebak.
