#NeverNotLoveYou : #TheKneejerkCritic Movie Review

May ikukumpisal ako. I am a fanboy.

Hindi ako fan nina James Reid at Nadine Lustre huh.

Hindi ako JaDine.

I. Am. A. Jadaonian.

I admit, I’m a Jadaonatic. That is, a Jadaone fanatic. I would watch a movie on the strenght of Antoinette’s name being attached to a project.

I am a fan. I would still call her out kung feeling ko nang-eechos sa isang project. Pero maski na, I would still look forward to her next offering.

I was kinda iffy about this movie dahil based sa track recond ng JaDine tandem, may duda akong malamang papuntang WattPad na kwento na naman ito. Meet-cute. Away-away kunwari. Pakilig. Konting tampuhan. Balikan. The End.

I have never been so happy to be wrong, for the sake of my Jadaonistic fandom at ng  280 pesoses ko. Sulit siya.

How sulit was Never Not Love You? Walang pasarap topless scene si James Reid dito.

Huwatt?!!! Gasp!! Can you imagine?!!!

And yet I didnt feel shortchanged. Ganung level.

Walang ring kilig scene na for the sake of kilig lang. Walang funky verbalized realizations. Walang witty comebacks. Walang pahugot lines. Maski yung regular tricks ni Antoinette sa kanta saka graphics were utilized judiciously and were at the service of clearer storytelling.

This is probably the most grown up movie Jadaone has ever done. It IS definitely the most grown up movie JaDine has even done. Maria and don’t get me started on Toni Gonzaga.

Both leads face real adulting concerns and Antoinette managed to present it with maturity.

Despite their differences, naging magjowa sila syempre. Here James and Nadine  kiss. They make out sa elevator. Premarital sex is implied. Hindi sila virginal innocents.

Bilib ako sa daring nina James at Nadine to take this storyline head-on considering na their biggest fan base are young teens i think. Walang keme. Sad.

Anyways, ok naman sila kaso bigla, nawala ang sustento ni James from the pudang. Bigla he is forced to work for a living and think about his own future. Pinag-apply ni Nadine si James ng work abroad to maximize his potential maski na si James ok lang na paraket-raket dito. Eh natanggap. The only way na pumayag si James na magventure sa London eh for Nadine to give up her own career bilang assistant brand manager para samahan ang jowa dun.

Homaygad this is so true to life.  Marami akong kilalang ganito

From assistant brand manager, nauwi to serbidora si Nadine. Hung-sad. Paano niya bubuhayin ang family niya? While James wants to stay in London, bet ni Nadine jumuwi so she can grow as well. So paano na?

Parang nakatira talaga sina James at Nadine doon. Pulido ang transitions. Ginugulan ng time at effort.

Actingwise, JaDine managed to deliver competently. Kids, say thank you to Antoinette kasi naramdaman kong tinyaga niya ang acting niyo.

Even the pacing was swak. Obviously may chemistry sina James at Nadine dahil magjowa sila in real life, at meron silang earnestness so their characters were believable. May napiga si Antoinette kahit paano.

If i have any quibble, it would be yung conclusion ng kwento.

Achulee kinda similar sila ng Meet Me In St Gallen na both ay parang fill-in-the blanks ang ending.
